Guttering Systems
Gutter installation, repair and cleaning to keep water off your walls.
Guttering SystemsRotten fascias, sagging gutters or birds getting into the roof? We renew the roofline in low-maintenance materials, and, crucially, keep the eaves ventilated so the roof stays healthy.
Rated five stars on Google by Surrey homeowners who've trusted us with their fascias, soffits & cladding, from Guildford to Godalming and across the wider county. After more than 36 years on Surrey roofs, most of our fascias, soffits & cladding work still comes the old-fashioned way: neighbours recommending us over the fence. You can read all our reviews, word for word.
Fascias, soffits and bargeboards finish the roof edge, carry your guttering, and let the roof breathe at the eaves. When they rot, the gutter sags, water gets into the wall, and birds and wasps get into the loft. Renewing them smartens the house and protects the structure.
The part that gets skipped is ventilation. Soffits are part of the roof's moisture control, so when we renew them we keep the eaves airflow clear, to BS 5250. Capping over rotten timber and blocking the vents is the short cut that stores up condensation and mould.

The boards and trims at the roof edge, renewed so they last and let the roof breathe.

The biggest roofline short cut is capping shiny new uPVC straight over rotten timber. It looks smart for a year, then the decay carries on unseen and the gutter works loose again. We replace decayed boards rather than dress them up.
The second is blocking the eaves ventilation, which traps moist air and brings on condensation and black mould in the loft. We keep the airflow the roof was designed to have, so the new roofline protects the structure rather than smothering it.
No mystery, no runaround. Here's exactly what happens when you get in touch.

Only if the timber behind is sound. Capping over rotten wood hides the problem while it carries on. Good practice is to replace decayed boards and keep the eaves ventilated, and we'll show you the condition of the timber first.
Usually gaps at the eaves: broken soffit sections, open joints or missing ventilation closures. Renewing the roofline properly closes those gaps while still letting the roof breathe.
There should be clear airflow at the eaves, often through vented soffit sections. Black mould on the soffits or a damp, stuffy loft can mean the ventilation is blocked, which we put right when we renew the roofline.
It's low-maintenance, not no-maintenance: an occasional wipe-down keeps it looking right, and it won't rot like timber. The key is that it's fitted with proper expansion gaps and over sound timber.
It usually makes sense to. The gutter hangs from the fascia, so with the scaffold up and the fascia renewed, it's the natural time to renew the rainwater goods too.
