Plenty of people expect a roofer in Knaphill to climb up, look at a leak and come down talking about a new roof. Inside the loft it is usually smaller: a cracked tile, a split lead flashing, tired flaunching on the chimney. If a smaller repair will do, we say so.

Roof Repairs for Leaks and Storm Damage
Slipped and missing tiles after high wind
Wind does not lift tiles evenly. It works at the edges first: verges, ridges, hips and the eaves course, where uplift is strongest. Once one tile goes, the tiles beside it lose their lap and the next gust finds them. So a single gap rarely stays single for long.
We refix replacement tiles to BS 5534, the standard for fixing and wind uplift. That means nailed or clipped as the roof requires, never bedded on a dab of mortar and left to luck.
Finding where the water actually gets in
Water rarely drips straight down. It runs along underlay and battens, then shows on a ceiling some way from where it entered. Our order of work does not change:
- Into the loft first, using the stain as a reference point
- Trace the run back up the timber and underlay
- Check outside, with a drone view where it helps
- Repair the source, then confirm the path has dried
The sequence matters because patching the wrong spot is how a leak gets paid for twice.
Doing it once
Every repair, however small, carries our 25-year written workmanship guarantee. Same paper, same terms. If something is not right within those 25 years, we come back and put it right.

Chimney Repairs, Lead Work and Flashing
Repointing and flaunching
Repointing replaces the eroded mortar between the bricks. Flaunching is the sloped mortar cap on top that holds the pots and throws water off. Cracked flaunching lets rain straight into the stack. Both are routine roofer work for us, and both carry the same written guarantee as a new roof.
Lead flashings to Lead Sheet Association guidance
Where the tiles meet the brickwork, lead does the sealing. We work to Lead Sheet Association guidance, in this order:
- Rake out the old mortar joint to take the new lead
- Dress step or soaker flashings to the line of the tiles
- Wedge the lead into the joint and point it in
- Lap each piece so water runs over it, never behind
Get the laps wrong and the stack leaks at the first driving rain. Get them right and you stop thinking about it.
Rebuilds, pots and cowls
Some stacks lean, or have lost too much brick to repoint. Then it is a rebuild. We tell you plainly whether the chimney needs a partial or a full rebuild, and why, and refit or replace the pots and cowls as part of the job.

Free Roof Surveys and Inspections
What the free survey covers
It is free. It carries no obligation. It is also done properly, which is the part that saves you money later. We work through it in a set order:
- Outside from the ground, then a drone view where height or access makes it useful
- Tiles, ridges, hips, valleys and verges
- Chimney, lead and flashings
- Gutters, fascias and soffits
- Inside the loft: underlay, battens, ventilation and any sign of condensation
Condensation is judged against BS 5250, because a damp loft does not always mean a leaking roof.
A fixed price, in writing
You get an honest fixed price in writing, with no charge for the quote. If a smaller repair will do, we say so rather than selling you a new roof. If you are wondering what you should pay for a roofer, a written fixed price after a proper survey is the fairest starting point.
When it cannot wait
Some jobs skip the survey stage. If you need a roofer in Knaphill for planned work, or emergency roofing in Knaphill in the middle of the night, it is the same number. A real person answers 24/7, and emergencies go to the front of the queue.

Flat Roofing and Pitched Roofing in Knaphill
Knaphill sits within the Woking area we cover. If you want a roofer close to home in Knaphill, the people who survey your roof are the people who fix it: our own local roofers, never subcontracted. And if you need a roofer in Woking, it is the same team. The same goes for a roofer in Godalming.
Flat roofs in EPDM, GRP or torch-on felt
We lay flat roofs to BS 6229, in three systems:
- EPDM rubber: a single membrane with few joints, suited to plain rectangular roofs
- GRP fibreglass: laid wet and cured to a hard finish, useful around awkward upstands and details
- Torch-on or built-up felt: layered and bonded, a familiar system on garages and extensions
The right one depends on the shape of the roof, the details around it and how it is used. Where the room below is cold, we can carry out a warm-roof upgrade at the same time.
Pitched roofs, fixing and ventilation
On pitched roofs, fixing follows BS 5534 and ventilation follows BS 5250. Both matter. A tight roof with no airflow traps moisture in the loft, and that damage arrives slowly. New roofs and reroofs are our speciality, and Approved Document L comes with them: renew more than half the roof area and the whole roof is brought up to the current insulation standard, where that is technically and economically feasible. We build that into the price at the start. No surprises halfway.
Garage roofs and asbestos cement
Older garages sometimes have asbestos-cement sheet roofs. We assess them and advise the safe, compliant route under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. We do not remove asbestos ourselves.

Gutters, Fascias and Soffits
Guttering sized to BS EN 12056
An overflowing gutter is often too small for its roof, rather than blocked. We size guttering and downpipes to BS EN 12056, working from the roof area draining into each run and where the outlets sit. Seamless aluminium is one option: formed in one continuous length, so there are no joints along the run to open up. Hopper heads and downpipes get checked too.
Fascias and soffits renewed with the roof
Fascias carry the gutter and close off the rafter ends. Soffits close the underside, and on many roofs they also carry the eaves ventilation. We renew them on their own or alongside roof work. Doing them with a re-roof means the access goes up once.
One call covers it
Roof, chimney, gutters. One firm, one survey, one written price. Call us and a real person answers, not a call centre. The work comes with a 25-year written guarantee, and the site is left tidy before we go.
