What it costs to have moss removed from your roof depends on the size and pitch of the roof, how thick the growth is, how the access is arranged and whether any tiles or gutters need attention once the moss is off. A small bungalow is a short job. A steep, heavily fouled house roof is not.

Why we scrape by hand and soft wash rather than pressure wash

A pressure washer is quick, cheap to run and the reason a lot of roofs need re-bedding, re-pointing or replacing years earlier than they should. High pressure water strips the granular surface off a concrete tile, drives water up under the laps and into the roof space, blasts out ridge and hip mortar, and puts slates and old clay tiles at real risk. It looks impressive on the day. The bill arrives later.

We remove moss by hand, scraping the growth off the tile, and follow with a low pressure soft wash where the roof warrants it. It takes longer, which is fair to say up front, and it is the reason our labour is a bigger share of the price than a hosing down would be.
